Virtual Talk| Toward the Natural City: Implementing Water Solutions for the Future

Raised in Sonora, Mexico and a longtime resident of Arizona, Joaquin brings decades of experience working on water solutions on both sides of the border. In his current position as cultural ecologist with the Tucson, Arizona-based Watershed Management Group, Joaquin implements community-based approaches to watershed management and works on river restoration, creating new forms of geotourism, collaborates with Native Nations on conservation projects, and helps develop best practices with ranching communities.

Broadcasting from Tucson, Arizona, Joaquin joins Caminos de Agua technical mentor, Aaron Krupp, for a conversation about what we can all do in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, and communities to work towards the “natural city.” Joaquin will touch on the concepts of “one water” and “productive units of water” and demonstrate water technologies that he has implemented including active rainwater harvesting, rain gardens, and greywater systems.
