Thin-Shell Concrete Habitats Workshop

CATIS-Mexico's summer 2011 workshop series at the CATIS-Mexico Institute started off with a Thin Shell Concrete Cross-Gable Shelter.  The diverse student base – including Engineers Without Borders students from the US, local Mexican engineers, students and professors – came together to build a full-scale cross-gable shelter, made from bamboo, chickenwire and cloth.

In addition to building a Thin Shell Concrete structure, students also learned about natural plasters, covering the fundamentals of clay and lime plasters including theory, materials and application.
