Our first EWB-UK volunteer placement, Javier Sierra, teaching in a local community

Caminos de Agua has been working with Engineers Without Borders-UK (EWB-UK) on joint projects since 2013, and through the years, EWB-UK has become one of our most valued partners. Caminos de Agua has received EWB-UK volunteer placements since 2013.  The 3-months placements, Javier Sierra (2013), Will Mitchell (2014), and Olivia Hobson (2015) have helped substantially push forward community projects, water quality work, and specifically the research, development and implementation of our ceramic water filter technologies and our biochar filtration medias.

In 2016, Caminos de Agua joined EWB-UK's Fellowship program.  Through this initiative, professional Fellows - fully supported by EWB-UK - will now spend 6-months with Caminos de Agua and new placements will overlap, providing Caminos de Agua with nearly year-long, on-the-ground, technical support.  You can follow the progress of our first EWB-UK Fellow, Billy Thurston, through his blog. Our second fellow, Sarah Mitchell (2016-17) has helped us move our fluoride remediation research forward invaluably. We are excited to work with our third EWB-UK Fellow, Simona Dossi (2017), when she arrives in June.

Along with the Fellowship Program, EWB-UK is a main partner of our summer school program: Sustainable Technologies in Action: Culture, Context and Design.  Additionally, EWB-UK is also the umbrella organization for EWB-University College of London (below).
