Caminos de Agua has collaborated substantially with the Coalition in Defense of the Independence Aquifer (CODECIN) in the past.  In September of 2013, the Coalition presented its case in front of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT), arguing that the contamination and over-exploitation of groundwater in the Independence Watershed region is in violation of the peoples' basic human rights. Caminos de Agua provided water quality analyses for local villages, partnerships with strategic international universities, and legal council to help build the PPT case between 2011 and 2013.  Through 2015, Caminos de Agua was a major partner of CODECIN and provided rainwater harvesting projects with Coalition communities and secured funding for the operation of the coalition and for several community events for three straight years.  While no longer actively involved in CODECIN, Caminos de Agua continues to respect their work and offers support where needed.
